Seminole County, FL (October 31, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred near Longwood on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of an Orlando man. The incident took place around 9:37 a.m. at the intersection of 17-92 and General Hutchinson Parkway, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
According to the FHP crash report, a 37-year-old man was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound in the southbound lane of 17-92 when he approached the intersection. At that moment, a 44-year-old woman from Winter Springs, driving a 2020 Honda Passport, attempted to turn left from eastbound General Hutchinson Parkway onto northbound 17-92. The front of both vehicles collided, causing the motorcycle to spin and strike a concrete barrier wall.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the Orlando man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman driving the SUV sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement.
Reports indicate that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the severity of the incident. The FHP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
