Seminole County, FL (January 23, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 74-year-old man on Wednesday night after he reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of Red Bug Lake Road and State Road 417. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:23 PM, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers stated that the incident involved a 2013 Chevy Equinox, driven by the 74-year-old man, and a 2015 Acura MDX, driven by a 19-year-old woman. The Chevy was traveling westbound on Red Bug Lake Road, while the Acura was heading southbound on the SR-417 exit ramp. As the Acura began making a left turn to travel eastbound on Red Bug Lake Road, the Chevy allegedly ran a red light and entered the Acura’s path, resulting in a collision.
Witnesses reported that the Chevy struck the left side of the Acura. Emergency responders transported the 74-year-old man to Oviedo Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The 19-year-old driver of the Acura sustained only minor injuries, according to the crash report.
