Seaford, DE (February 14, 2025) – A residential structure fire in the 6000 block of Grist Lane in Seaford resulted in two reported injuries on Thursday night.
According to the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire was reported just before 8:00 p.m. Emergency responders, including crews from Blades (71), Seaford (87), Laurel (81), Bridgeville (72), Medics, Sharptown (14), DSP Aviation Trooper 2, Federalsburg (100), Delmar (74), Greenwood (78), Georgetown (77), and Gumboro (79), arrived on the scene and encountered heavy fire conditions coming from the first floor of a one-and-a-half-story single-family dwelling.
At 7:50 p.m., the first arriving units confirmed a critical burn patient, prompting the request for aviation transport. A second patient with serious injuries was transported via ground ambulance. Firefighters battled intense flames, and at 8:14 p.m., the fire was partially knocked down above the garage. By 9:23 p.m., the fire was reported under control, though units remained on-site for overhaul and investigation.
The female occupant of the home sustained minor injuries and was transported to TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital by ambulance. A male victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by Delaware State Police Trooper 2 to Christiana Care Christiana Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is actively investigating the cause of the fire.
