Scott County, MO (January 26, 2025) – A serious single-vehicle crash occurred late Saturday night at the intersection of County Rd 450 and County Rd 452, approximately two miles south of Vanduser. The accident, reported at around 10:50 p.m., is under investigation by Corporal B.A. Pratt (535), assisted by Trooper W.A. Wadlington (558).

According to initial reports, a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 28-year-old female from Sikeston, MO, was traveling westbound when it left the roadway after passing through the intersection. The vehicle struck an embankment, resulting in significant damage and ultimately being deemed a total loss. Satterfield’s Wrecker service removed the vehicle from the scene.

Three individuals sustained injuries in the crash. A 24-year-old female passenger from Sikeston suffered serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. The driver, who was wearing a safety device, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the same hospital by EMS. Another passenger, a 35-year-old female from Troy, TN, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by private conveyance.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash. Our thoughts are with the injured, especially the passenger who sustained serious injuries, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Vehicle Accidents in Scott County, Missouri

Scott County is no stranger to accidents involving vehicles traveling on rural roads and intersections, such as County Rd 450 and County Rd 452. Factors like low visibility at night, unpaved shoulders, and sudden embankments contribute to the risks of single-vehicle crashes in these areas.

Seatbelt use often plays a critical role in mitigating the severity of injuries, as demonstrated in this incident, where passengers wearing safety devices sustained minor injuries compared to the passenger who was unrestrained. These crashes highlight the importance of adhering to safety precautions and remaining alert while navigating rural intersections, especially during nighttime hours.

Victims of single-vehicle accidents in Scott County may face not only physical recovery but also financial and emotional challenges in the aftermath. Seeking assistance from professionals experienced in accident claims can provide crucial support in managing medical bills, insurance claims, and the pursuit of compensation.
