Schriever, LA (December 23, 2024) – Louisiana State Police Troop C is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Louisiana Highway 24 at the intersection with Louisiana Highway 311 on the afternoon of December 22, 2024. Tragically, the crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Gabe Gautreaux of Thibodaux.
Preliminary reports indicate that Gautreaux was riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on LA Hwy 24 at a high rate of speed as he approached the intersection with LA Hwy 311. Simultaneously, a 2019 Ford Fiesta, traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 311, entered the intersection. The motorcycle collided with the Fiesta for reasons that remain under investigation.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Gautreaux, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, sustained critical injuries. He was transported to an out-of-area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Ford Fiesta was properly restrained and escaped the collision without injury.
