Santa Rosa, CA (October 6, 2024) – A tragic road rage incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to a child and a man. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision took place around 2 p.m. on Stony Point Road.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of a Mazda SUV was traveling south on Stony Point Road when they intentionally rammed into another vehicle multiple times. The force of the collision pushed the struck vehicle into oncoming traffic, leading to a chaotic scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a man, and a child in a car seat in the back were rushed to a nearby hospital, although their current condition remains unknown.
Tragically, a woman who was a passenger in the struck vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the initial crash, the suspect fled the area and was later involved in another collision on Highway 101 while heading toward Petaluma, where he again intentionally hit another car. The driver of that vehicle was also taken to the hospital with injuries that have not been disclosed.
After the second crash, the suspect’s vehicle became disabled, and he attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers shortly thereafter. The CHP is investigating the suspect for possible DUI and mental health issues, although his identity has not yet been released.
