Santa Maria, CA (January 12, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a semi-truck claimed the life of one person Saturday morning on Highway 1 south of West Main St in Santa Maria. The accident occurred around 6:29 a.m., according to the Santa Barbara County (SBC) Fire Public Information Office.
The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck, which collided under unclear circumstances. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway. Emergency responders, including crews from the Guadalupe and Santa Maria Fire Departments, arrived promptly at the scene.
Tragically, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the incident.
