Sangamon County, IL (February 22, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Illinois State Route 125 and Route 97 on Saturday morning, resulting in the deaths of both drivers involved.
According to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, a 63-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, a 43-year-old woman, was transported by EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, as next-of-kin notifications are still pending. The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police are actively investigating the cause of the crash. No further details have been made available at this time.
