Sandusky County, OH (January 30, 2025) – Six people, including three children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 20 in Washington Township on Wednesday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

The accident occurred just before 6 p.m. near milepost 12 when a black 2018 Chevy Equinox attempted to turn onto U.S. Route 20 from a private driveway. According to officials, the Chevy failed to yield and was struck by a gold 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 20 following the impact. Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical assistance to those involved.

The driver of the Chevy, a 25-year-old woman from Woodville, and a one-year-old child who was secured in a rear-facing child safety seat were transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center. Authorities confirmed that they were in stable condition.

The driver of the Dodge, a 37-year-old Toledo woman, along with a 34-year-old Defiance resident and two additional children, also sustained injuries. They were transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition.

State troopers stated that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

The westbound lanes of U.S. Route 20 were temporarily closed for approximately 45 minutes as crews worked to clear the scene.

Our thoughts are with all those injured, and we wish them a full recovery.

Car Accidents in Ohio

Ohio roadways, including major routes like U.S. Route 20, often experience accidents due to right-of-way violations, distracted driving, and congestion. Intersections and driveways leading onto high-speed roads can be particularly dangerous, as drivers must judge gaps in traffic before merging.

Car accidents involving children can be especially concerning, highlighting the importance of proper car seat usage. Thankfully, in this crash, the child in the rear-facing safety seat avoided life-threatening injuries, demonstrating the effectiveness of appropriate child restraint systems.

Victims of car accidents may face physical, emotional, and financial challenges after a crash. Medical expenses, lost wages, and rehabilitation can place significant burdens on those affected. Seeking medical attention and understanding legal options are critical steps for those recovering from an accident.

If you or someone you know has been injured in a car accident, taking the right steps to protect your rights and seek assistance can be crucial for recovery.
