Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragic event.
The first crash involved a 25-year-old man from Traunik, who was driving westbound on County Rd 480 when he lost control of his vehicle after hitting a patch of ice and veering into the ditch. His passenger, a 51-year-old man from Marquette, sustained minor injuries in the incident. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. A third crash occurred between the 19-year-old driver and a 41-year-old man from Negaunee. The 19-year-old was found at fault for the incident and cited. No additional injuries have been reported. Snow, ice, and speed are believed to have contributed to the crashes.
A semi-truck also became stuck on a patch of ice along the road due to the traffic backlog caused by the crashes, though it was not involved in the collisions.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge drivers to exercise caution in snowy and icy conditions. Our hearts go out to the injured individuals, and we hope for their swift recovery.
