San Francisco, CA (December 23, 2024) – A multi-vehicle collision involving injuries occurred on eastbound I-80 just west of Center Anchorage early Sunday morning. The crash, reported at approximately 3:15 a.m., resulted in significant lane closures and traffic disruptions.
Initial reports indicate that 4-6 vehicles were involved in the crash, which is associated with a pursuit by the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). Emergency responders arrived on the scene and worked to move three vehicles off the mainline to the Macalla/Northgate area. Lanes 1 through 4 were blocked, leaving only lane 5 open to traffic. A SigAlert was issued due to the severity of the incident and the extensive lane closures.
One of the involved vehicles, a silver BMW, sustained major damage and required towing services from Golden Gate Tow. Other tow companies, including Nelson’s Tow, were contacted to assist with clearing the vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and SFPD are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. Traffic was heavily impacted, and drivers in the area were advised to expect delays as crews worked to clear the scene and reopen lanes.
We wish those hurt a swift recovery.
