San Diego, CA (November 13, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision near the southbound State Route 163 in the Miramar area tragically resulted in the death of a 66-year-old woman on Monday night. The crash occurred at the intersection of Kearny Villa Road and the northbound SR-163 off-ramp.
According to police, the 66-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Highlander and making a left turn onto Kearny Villa Road when her vehicle was broadsided by a Ford F-450 truck. The truck, driven by a 49-year-old woman, reportedly ran a red light before colliding with the Toyota Highlander.
The 66-year-old was transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after. Police confirmed that DUI was not a factor in the crash.
The incident prompted the closure of southbound SR-163 north of the Kearny Villa Road on-ramp. Caltrans San Diego announced that the roadway reopened shortly before 11:00 PM.
