San Antonio, TX (December 12, 2024) – A two-vehicle rollover crash along Loop 1604 on the North Side led to an intoxication assault charge and temporarily shut down the highway in both directions late Wednesday night. The crash occurred near Bulverde Road just before midnight, according to San Antonio police.
When officers arrived, they found a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Loop 1604. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when one vehicle crossed over and collided with the other. The impact caused the second vehicle to roll over into the median, resulting in serious injuries to the 33-year-old male driver, who was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 61-year-old male, was also taken to a hospital with injuries. Police believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash, and he was arrested for intoxication assault after being treated and released from the hospital.
The crash caused significant disruption, with both sides of the highway closed briefly as a vehicle ended up on the opposite side of the road. Authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash.
