San Angelo, TX (February 22, 2025) – A collision between a sedan and an SUV in east San Angelo sent two people to the hospital Friday afternoon. The crash occurred at the intersection of Paint Rock Rd and South Sellers St after the sedan’s driver failed to yield while making a left turn.

According to San Angelo Police Officer Bilyeu, the white SUV struck the black sedan in a T-bone collision. Both occupants of the sedan sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment, though their injuries were reported to be minor. No one in the SUV was injured.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the sedan will face citations for failing to yield the right-of-way while turning and for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The investigation remains ongoing, and drivers are advised to avoid the area while cleanup efforts continue.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this accident, and we wish them a full recovery.

Failure to Yield Accidents in Texas

Failure to yield is one of the most common causes of collisions at intersections, particularly when drivers attempt to turn left in front of oncoming traffic. Crashes like this one often result in side-impact, or T-bone, collisions, which can cause significant injuries to vehicle occupants. The force of impact in these types of accidents frequently leads to head, neck, and chest injuries, particularly for those in the struck vehicle.

Texas roadways see a high number of failure-to-yield crashes each year. Many of these accidents are preventable with increased caution, patience, and awareness at intersections. Drivers are encouraged to follow traffic laws, avoid distractions, and ensure it is safe before making turns.

While many failure-to-yield accidents result in minor injuries, some can lead to more serious consequences, requiring extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation. Understanding legal rights and available options is crucial for those involved in such crashes.
