Salt Lake City, UT (January 18, 2025) – A man was seriously injured early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Salt Lake City. Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of 700 South and 600 West.
The victim, a 31-year-old male, was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a black Audi. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the Audi fled the scene but was located shortly afterward thanks to a collaborative effort by private security guards and law enforcement. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper, who was in the vicinity and may have witnessed the crash, initially attempted to stop the suspect. Private security guards later found the vehicle near 1820 W. 465 N. and detained the driver until officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) and UHP arrived.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was determined to be impaired at the time of the crash. Authorities are also investigating whether street racing may have been a factor.
Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrian, and we hope for his full recovery.
