Saline County, MO (January 16, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred on northbound Highway 65 near Speyer Ln on Wednesday morning, resulting in injuries to both drivers involved. The crash was reported at approximately 7:50 AM and was investigated by TPR. D. R. Peters of Troop A.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 23-year-old woman from Marshall, turned in front of a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country traveling northbound. The Chrysler, driven by a 35-year-old man from Marshall, struck the Chevrolet, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Emergency responders transported the Chevrolet driver, who sustained moderate injuries, to Fitzgibbon Hospital via Saline County EMS. The Chrysler driver, who suffered injuries, was transported to the same hospital by a private party. Both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash, which likely mitigated the severity of their injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to extensive damage. The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the precise factors contributing to the incident.

Intersection Accidents in Missouri

Intersections, like the one at Highway 65 and Speyer Ln, are frequent sites of traffic collisions due to the complexity of navigating turns, merging lanes, and yielding to oncoming traffic. Missouri traffic data indicates that driver error, such as failing to yield, is one of the leading causes of crashes at intersections.

Accidents involving turning vehicles, like the one reported here, can result in significant injuries and property damage, especially when high speeds are involved. These incidents highlight the importance of cautious driving, particularly when executing turns across busy roadways.

For individuals affected by accidents, seeking medical care and understanding their rights is essential. Recovery often involves navigating insurance claims and addressing financial burdens associated with medical bills and property damage.
