Saline County, MO (November 13, 2024) – Emergency responders attended to a two-vehicle accident on eastbound I-70 near the 82-mile marker on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in minor injuries to one occupant.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:15 PM, involving a 2021 Subaru Forester and a 2007 Freightliner Conventional. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Subaru, driven by a 25-year-old male from Long Beach, CA, entered the path of the Freightliner, driven by a 61-year-old female from Lexington, SC. The Freightliner struck the rear of the Subaru, causing the Subaru to veer off the left side of the roadway, collide with the cable barrier, and overturn.

Emergency responders provided aid at the scene. A 26-year-old female passenger in the Subaru sustained minor injuries but declined transportation to a hospital. Both drivers reported using their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The Subaru sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene, while the Freightliner incurred minor damage and was driven away. Authorities, assisted by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, are investigating the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we hope for her swift recovery.

Vehicle Accidents in Missouri

Interstate 70, a vital artery through Missouri, sees significant traffic daily, making it a hotspot for accidents. High-speed travel, frequent merging, and heavy commercial vehicle presence increase the likelihood of collisions, especially during peak hours or inclement weather.

Missouri’s Department of Transportation (MoDOT) emphasizes the importance of cautious driving on major highways. Common causes of crashes include failure to yield, distracted driving, and unsafe lane changes, often leading to rear-end collisions and severe outcomes. This particular crash highlights the importance of maintaining safe following distances and vigilance in high-traffic areas to avoid accidents.

Victims of car accidents may face physical, emotional, and financial burdens. Seeking immediate medical attention, even for minor injuries, is crucial for recovery and documentation purposes. Additionally, understanding your rights and options for compensation can help alleviate the financial strain caused by medical bills, property damage, and other costs.
