Saginaw County, MI (September 19, 2024) – A 78-year-old woman from Saginaw tragically lost her life after her SUV was hit twice by semi-trucks along southbound I-75 near Bridgeport on Thursday morning.
The Michigan State Police reported that a 59-year-old Cadillac man driving a Peterbilt semi-truck sideswiped her GMC Acadia. Shortly afterward, a Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 22-year-old from Mount Pleasant struck the SUV. Which had stopped in the right travel lane. The impact caused the Acadia to erupt into flames.
Despite efforts from bystanders and emergency personnel, they could not rescue the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
