Rye, NH (November 5, 2024) – An early morning fire in Rye has resulted in the destruction of two homes and sent three individuals to the hospital. Emergency crews were dispatched to the area of 1505 Ocean Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire at the site.
The home that caught fire was under construction, and the new owners had not yet moved in. The fire was exacerbated by a north wind, which spread the flames to the neighboring home, where three adults were present at the time of the incident. Fortunately, they were able to escape and were subsequently transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with minor injuries. They have since been treated and released.
This incident marks the second evacuation this year for residents in the area, as another neighboring home had previously burned down during a storm earlier in the year.
As of noon, fire crews were still on the scene, waiting for an excavating crew to assist in safely removing debris and ensuring that all hazards were addressed. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and further updates are expected as authorities work to determine what led to this devastating event.
Our thoughts are with the individuals affected by this fire, and we hope for a swift recovery for those injured.
