Rush Run, OH (February 7, 2025) – A head-on collision on State Route 7 near Rush Run resulted in two drivers being hospitalized on Thursday morning, according to the Steubenville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). The crash occurred around 7:30 AM and led to a temporary closure of northbound lanes.
Authorities reported that the driver of a southbound vehicle fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the right side of the road and strike a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed the median and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One of the drivers was transferred to a hospital in Pittsburgh for further care. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency personnel from Yorkville, Tiltonsville, Brilliant, and Rayland assisted the OSHP at the scene. Northbound traffic on State Route 7 was closed for over an hour while emergency crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash. The roadway has since been reopened.
