Child Pedestrian Safety in Texas
Accidents involving child pedestrians are a critical concern, particularly in neighborhoods and areas near schools. In Texas, pedestrian incidents involving young children are most likely to occur during early morning or late afternoon hours when children are commuting to and from school. Data from the Texas Department of Transportation shows that pedestrian accidents involving minors often happen in residential areas, emphasizing the need for heightened driver awareness and strict adherence to speed limits in school zones and residential neighborhoods.
Local authorities and traffic safety advocates urge drivers to stay vigilant in neighborhoods, especially near intersections and crossings frequently used by children. Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds, avoid distractions, and remain alert to help prevent pedestrian accidents.
If you or a loved one has been affected by a pedestrian accident, understanding your options is essential.
