Riverview, FL (December 26, 2024) – A tragic three-vehicle crash on U.S. 301 at Ambleside Blvd in Riverview claimed the lives of two women, aged 82 and 60, on Christmas night. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 6 PM on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
FHP reported that an 87-year-old man driving a Hyundai Sonata attempted to turn onto Ambleside Blvd but crossed into the path of a Kia Optima traveling on U.S. 301. The Optima collided with the Sonata, propelling the Sonata into the path of a GMC Acadia, which struck the vehicle.
Both women who died were passengers in the backseat of the Hyundai Sonata and were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other individuals involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
The roadway was closed for several hours as troopers conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage. No further details about the identities of the victims or the cause of the crash have been released as the investigation continues.
