Richland County, WI (October 22, 2024) – A tragic vehicle rollover crash occurred on October 21 at approximately 5:48 a.m. on State HWY 130, north of County HWY T. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office received notification of the incident and promptly dispatched deputies along with the Lone Rock Fire Department, Lone Rock EMS, Richland Center EMS, and UW Med Flight to the scene. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was also requested to provide assistance.
Initial reports indicated that two individuals were injured in the crash, one of whom was ejected from the vehicle. Investigations revealed that the vehicle, operated by Carter Heisz, age 20, was traveling northbound on State HWY 130 when it struck a deer. This collision caused Heisz to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in it entering the east ditch and overturning multiple times.
Unfortunately, neither Heisz nor his passenger, Taiten Rosenbaum, age 19, was believed to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Heisz was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
