Richardson, TX (November 2, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle accident occurred on US 75, also known as Central Expressway, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals. The incident took place at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, leading to the closure of all southbound lanes near the President George Bush Turnpike during the busy Friday morning rush hour. The highway was reopened just before 9 a.m.
According to the Richardson Police Department, officers initially responded to a report of a stalled Cadillac SUV in the southbound HOV lane. Before they could arrive, the driver of a Lexus SUV collided with the rear of the Cadillac. Shortly thereafter, a Dodge sedan struck the back of the Lexus, resulting in a catastrophic chain reaction.
At the time of the crashes, the driver and six passengers of the Cadillac were standing outside the vehicle. Tragically, Alyia Khalid, a 19-year-old passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and four other passengers from the Cadillac were transported to a local hospital for their injuries, while one passenger was not injured.
The driver of the Lexus, identified as 27-year-old Haley Taylor, and her 6-year-old daughter were also taken to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver and passenger of the Dodge sedan were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
