Remsen, NY (February 4, 2025) – A two-car accident in the town of Remsen sent one person to the hospital Sunday evening after a collision at the intersection of Fairchild Road and James Road.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at approximately 7:15 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies observed a heavily damaged pickup truck and a car involved in the accident.
Investigators determined that 42-year-old Luis Garcia-Martinez of Remsen was driving southbound on Bardwell Mills Road when he was unable to stop at a stop sign due to excessive speed for the road conditions. His vehicle slid past the stop sign and crashed into a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Noah Skermont, who was traveling eastbound on Fairchild Road.
The impact sent Garcia-Martinez’s car into a snowbank, where it came to rest on the southern shoulder of Fairchild Road. Skermont was evaluated at the scene and reported no injuries, while Garcia-Martinez was found to be disoriented and suffering from an injury. He was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for a full recovery.

Snowy and icy road conditions increase the risk of accidents, especially when drivers fail to adjust their speed accordingly. Intersections like Fairchild Rd and James Rd can become hazardous during winter, as reduced traction makes it difficult for vehicles to stop safely.
New York law allows individuals injured in car accidents caused by another driver’s negligence to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. Understanding one’s legal options and seeking proper medical care are crucial steps toward recovery.
