Red Hook, NY (January 24, 2025) – A fatal car crash on State Route 9G near Peach Tree Court is under investigation by the Red Hook Police Department. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, January 23, at approximately 3:55 p.m.
According to the initial investigation, a 2013 Hyundai traveling northbound on State Route 9G reportedly crossed over the double yellow lines, leading to a head-on collision with a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck. Emergency crews used hydraulic rescue tools (jaws-of-life) to extricate the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 68-year-old William Dougher of Germantown. Dougher was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment. State Route 9G was closed for nearly three hours as authorities assessed the scene and conducted their investigation.
