Rayne, LA (February 28, 2025) – A motorcyclist lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on West Branche Street near Fourth Street on Wednesday evening, February 26.
According to reports from the Rayne Police Department, 33-year-old Blake Jordan Hollier of Rayne was traveling westbound on West Branche Street at a high rate of speed when his motorcycle collided with an eastbound vehicle making a turn onto Fourth Street. The impact occurred on the passenger side of the car.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Hollier suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of standard procedure for fatal crashes, toxicology samples were taken and sent to the Louisiana State Police lab for further analysis.
The driver of the other vehicle showed no signs of impairment and submitted to a breath test, which confirmed the absence of alcohol. Additionally, the driver provided a blood sample for toxicology testing. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries, and both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Rayne Police officials have stated that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to gather details regarding the circumstances of the collision.
