Ray County, MO (February 4, 2025) – A vehicle crash on Highway O Monday night left three women injured after their car veered off the road and struck multiple objects.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:31 p.m. near 13109 Hwy O. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Nissan Versa was traveling northbound when it ran off the right side of the roadway, colliding with a ditch, a cable box, and a telephone pole before coming to a stop off the road.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital by Ray County EMS. Two passengers, a 43-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs and a 21-year-old woman from Riverton, IA, were also injured. The 43-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a safety device, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Liberty Hospital, while the 21-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries and was also transported for treatment.

The Nissan Versa was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene. The Ray County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the accident site. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we wish them a full recovery.

Vehicle Accidents in Missouri

Single-vehicle accidents, such as this one on Hwy O, often occur due to driver distraction, speeding, road conditions, or adverse weather. Collisions involving roadside objects like ditches, utility poles, and guardrails can result in severe injuries for occupants.

Wearing a seatbelt is a critical factor in reducing injury severity. In this incident, the passenger who was not restrained suffered more serious injuries than those who were. Missouri law requires seatbelt use for all drivers and passengers to enhance safety.

For those injured in car accidents, medical expenses, rehabilitation, and lost wages can present significant challenges. Navigating insurance claims and potential legal options can be complex, making professional guidance essential in securing fair compensation.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a vehicle accident, consulting with a professional can help you understand your rights and explore options for financial recovery.
