Rawlins, WY – Semi Crash on I-80 Kills Driver and Ignites Fire

Rawlins, WY (September 10, 2024) – A fatal collision involving two semitrailers occurred on Saturday, September 7, along eastbound Interstate 80 near milepost 223. Wyoming Highway Patrol reported that a 2022 Freightliner crossed the right fog line and struck a parked semi on the shoulder. 

The impact caused the Freightliner to jackknife and catch fire, leading to the driver’s death. Emergency crews closed the interstate for over eight hours to clear wreckage and extinguish grass fires caused by the crash. 

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
