Rankin County, MS (November 19, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening in Rankin County left multiple individuals injured, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP). The accident occurred around 6:12 p.m. on U.S. 49 North near Star Rd.
Authorities reported that a 2024 Hyundai Palisade, driven by 78-year-old John Woodward of Brandon, was traveling north on U.S. 49 with three passengers: 72-year-old Ira Ott, 73-year-old Betty Ott, and 71-year-old Donna Woodward, all of Brandon. The other vehicle, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, was driven by 21-year-old Gracie Blakeney of Taylorsville, with Ashley Holloman, 36, of Waynesboro, as a passenger.
The crash occurred when the Pontiac, crossing onto U.S. 49, collided with the Hyundai. Emergency responders transported all individuals involved to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson for treatment of injuries. The severity of the injuries has not been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
