Rankin County, MS (February 23, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Rankin County on Saturday afternoon resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP).
Authorities reported that the accident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on MS-18 near Sanctuary Dr. A 2009 Honda Civic was traveling north on Will Stutely Dr. when it collided with a 2019 GMC Sierra traveling east on MS-18.
The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 39-year-old James Williams III, tragically died at the scene. The driver of the GMC Sierra, 73-year-old Curtis Jones, and the passenger, 72-year-old Ruth Jones, sustained injuries and were transported to St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson for medical treatment. The severity of their injuries remains unknown at this time.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation.
