Randolph County, NC (October 31, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a tragic hit-and-run accident that occurred on Wednesday morning. At approximately 7:43 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a crash on US-311 near Brookwood Acres Drive.
Upon arrival, they discovered that 44-year-old Samuel Hubern Lilly, of Randleman, had been struck by a vehicle that crossed the centerline while he was walking north in the southbound lane of US-311. Unfortunately, Mr. Lilly was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are now actively searching for the suspect vehicle, described as a 2005-2011 grey Toyota Tacoma truck. The Highway Patrol indicates that the suspect vehicle is likely to have visible damage to its front passenger side fender as a result of the collision.
