Hit-and-Run Accidents in Louisiana

Hit-and-run crashes are a growing concern in Louisiana, with tragic incidents like the one on US-171 highlighting the devastating consequences. Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable, especially in low-visibility conditions or areas with high-speed traffic.

Leaving the scene of an accident, particularly when injuries or fatalities are involved, is a serious crime. Louisiana law requires all drivers involved in a crash to stop, render aid if possible, and notify authorities. Failing to do so can result in severe criminal penalties.

For families affected by fatal hit-and-run accidents, seeking justice and legal recourse can be critical. Victims’ families may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, and other damages. Consulting with legal professionals can help ensure their rights are protected.
