Radford, VA (September 23, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday morning, September 23 in Radford, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old woman and injuries to three others. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a crash at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Radford Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a car traveling west lost control due to slick pavement caused by rain and collided with an eastbound vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as Kelsey Patton of Max Meadows, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the other vehicle, a man, woman, and small child were found and subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, the extent of which remains unknown at this time.
The New River Valley Regional Crash Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Emergency responders from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, the Christiansburg Fire Department, Christiansburg Rescue, and Radford Police and Rescue assisted at the scene.
