Quincy, IL (February 1, 2025) – A paramedic and a patient were injured early Friday morning following a head-on collision involving a Brown County Ambulance in Quincy.
According to the Quincy Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 12:06 a.m. in the 2600 block of North 12th when a 2014 Ford Edge, traveling northbound, struck a curb on the east side of the roadway. This impact caused the vehicle to veer into the southbound lane, where it collided with the front driver’s side of the ambulance.
At the time of the crash, the ambulance was transporting a patient to Blessing Hospital. The paramedic, who was in the back of the ambulance attending to the patient, sustained injuries along with the patient. Both were transported to Blessing Hospital by Adams County Ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford, identified as a 26-year-old female, was cited for improper lane usage. Authorities closed both lanes of traffic on North 12th for approximately 1.5 hours while investigating the scene and clearing the wreckage.
