Queens, NY (January 20, 2025) – A basement fire in a residential building at 32-79 32nd St in Astoria, Queens, left eight civilians with injuries early Monday morning. Emergency crews responded to the scene after a 911 call was received at approximately 2:43 a.m.
Firefighters quickly identified the fire’s location in the building’s basement and initiated operations to bring the situation under control. Two fire lines were deployed as responders worked to extinguish the flames. Throughout the response, eight civilians were assessed and treated for minor injuries, with some transported for further evaluation. The fire was contained, and operations concluded with a fire watch in place by 5:58 a.m.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and no additional details about the building’s damage or displaced residents have been released.
