Putnam County, FL (October 7, 2024) – A tragic accident on U.S. 17 resulted in the death of a man from Crescent City after his golf cart was struck by a sedan. The incident occurred around 3:44 p.m. when the 59-year-old man was attempting to cross U.S. 17 from a private driveway.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the golf cart was heading east when it entered the path of a northbound sedan driven by a 23-year-old man, also from Crescent City. The sedan was approaching Old U.S. 17 when the golf cart unexpectedly pulled out from the driveway, leading to the collision. The front of the sedan struck the right side of the golf cart.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the driver of the golf cart was pronounced dead at the location of the accident. The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries and is expected to recover.
