Pulaski County, MO (January 16, 2025) – A vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 44 at mile marker 158.8 claimed one life and left another individual seriously injured Wednesday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 10:31 AM and was investigated by CPL G.N. Wensel of Troop I.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 RAM 1500 traveling westbound left the roadway, struck trees and an embankment, and overturned. Tragically, a 78-year-old male occupant from Lebanon was pronounced dead at the scene by Pulaski County Coroner Roger Graves at 11:01 AM. He was transported to Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel. Authorities confirmed that the occupant was not wearing a safety device.
The 36-year-old driver of the vehicle, also from Lebanon, sustained serious injuries. He was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash and was transported to Phelps Health Rolla by the Pulaski County Ambulance District for treatment.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, St. Robert Police Department, MODOT, and additional law enforcement officers assisted at the scene. This marks Troop I’s first fatal accident for 2025. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the factors contributing to the crash.
