Prescott Township, MN (November 2, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred this morning on Highway 169, resulting in injuries to several individuals. At approximately 7:58 a.m., emergency responders were alerted to a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 169 and 140th Street in Faribault County.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by 32-year-old Kelly Ann Unger from Winnebago, MN, was traveling southbound on Highway 169 when it collided with a 2012 Toyota RAV4, also heading southbound. The impact of the collision led to significant damage to both vehicles, but fortunately, the road conditions were dry at the time, which may have lessened the severity of the incident.
Emergency services, including the Blue Earth Fire Department, Police Department, and ambulances from Winnebago and Faribault County, responded promptly to the scene. Kelly Ann Unger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Blue Earth Emergency Room for medical evaluation and treatment. Notably, she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to her injuries.
Two passengers were in the Dodge Grand Caravan: an 11-year-old male, who was wearing his seatbelt and also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and an 8-year-old male passenger who did not sustain any injuries. Both were taken to Blue Earth ER for precautionary reasons.
The driver of the second vehicle, Isabella Ann Nelson, a 22-year-old female from Winnebago, MN, was also traveling southbound in her Toyota RAV4. She did not sustain any injuries and was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. There were no reports of alcohol involvement for any of the parties involved.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this accident as they recover from their injuries.
