Pottawatomie County, OK (January 27, 2025) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is investigating a tragic collision that occurred on Friday afternoon, January 24th, around 3:30 p.m. on US-177 southbound near Sing Rd.
According to OHP, a 2014 Nissan Altima traveling southbound collided with the rear of a 1989 International. Tragically, the driver of the Nissan, 26-year-old Katelyn R. Teel, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
A 2-year-old girl who was inside the Nissan was airlifted to OU Medical Center and admitted with internal and external trunk injuries. Fortunately, her condition has been reported as good.
The driver and passenger of the 1989 International were unharmed and remained at the scene during the initial investigation. OHP confirmed that while both vehicles were equipped with seatbelts, they were only in use in the International.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Our thoughts are with the Teel family and the young child as they cope with this heartbreaking loss.
