Port St. Lucie, FL (March 6, 2025) – A 37-year-old man from New Britain, Connecticut, lost his life in a motorcycle crash Wednesday morning on the southbound Interstate 95 off-ramp at Crosstown Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Authorities responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported at 7:10 a.m. Investigators determined that the motorcyclist was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson southbound on the exit ramp when he failed to navigate a left curve in the roadway. This caused the motorcycle to veer onto the unpaved west shoulder, overturn on its left side, and strike the ground before colliding with a guardrail support.
The impact ejected the rider, who landed on a grass embankment behind the guardrail. Emergency responders arrived, but the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials have not disclosed whether the victim was wearing a helmet.
The southbound exit ramp was temporarily closed following the incident but was later reopened. The Florida Highway Patrol and Port St. Lucie Police are investigating the crash.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time.
Motorcycle Accidents in Florida
Florida’s highways and exit ramps can be dangerous for motorcyclists, especially in areas with sharp curves and high-speed traffic. Crashes like the one on the I-95 off-ramp at Crosstown Parkway highlight the risks associated with navigating highway exits, where even a momentary miscalculation can lead to severe consequences.
Motorcyclists face a greater risk of injury or fatality due to the lack of structural protection. Common factors contributing to motorcycle crashes include roadway conditions, speed, and rider experience. In many cases, helmet use can reduce the severity of injuries, though Florida law only requires helmets for riders under 21.
Losing a loved one in a motorcycle crash can be devastating, both emotionally and financially.
