Port Barre, LA (January 14, 2025) – A tragic collision involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 190 near Lakeshore Dr claimed the life of a Port Barre resident early Monday morning. Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the crash shortly before 2:00 a.m.

According to investigators, 32-year-old Brandon Taylor was driving a 2024 Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 190 when the crash occurred. Taylor’s vehicle collided head-on with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and was subsequently struck by a 2013 Freightliner truck, both of which were traveling westbound.

Taylor sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Freightliner driver was reportedly unharmed. Authorities confirmed that all drivers involved were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.

Our thoughts are with the family of Brandon Taylor and all others affected by this incident.

Head-On Collisions in Louisiana

Head-on collisions are among the most severe types of crashes, often resulting in catastrophic injuries or fatalities. In Louisiana, rural highways like U.S. Highway 190 can present heightened risks due to their long stretches and limited barriers between opposing lanes of traffic.

Driving in the wrong direction, as seen in this crash, is a leading cause of head-on collisions. Such incidents can result from driver fatigue, impaired judgment, or disorientation. Drivers are encouraged to stay vigilant and follow all roadway markings and signs to reduce the risk of accidents.

Victims of head-on collisions and their families may face immense challenges, from navigating medical treatments to dealing with legal and insurance claims. Seeking professional assistance can help ensure fair treatment and necessary compensation during these difficult times.
