Poplar Bluff, MO (December 17, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to a pedestrian accident Monday evening on East Outer Road, approximately two miles north of Poplar Bluff. The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. when a 2021 Ford F150, driven by a 46-year-old male from Hurley, WI, struck a pedestrian in the roadway.
The pedestrian, a 54-year-old male from Poplar Bluff, MO, was struck by the vehicle while walking in the road. He was transported by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries. The driver of the Ford F150 was uninjured and continued driving from the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with assistance from Cpl. C.E. Leach, Sgt. B.L. Riefle, and Tpr. E.N. Stinson. The incident highlights the dangers pedestrians face when walking in or near roadways, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility may be reduced.
