Poplar Bluff, MO (September 26, 2024) – A bicycle accident occurred on September 25 at approximately 4:18 PM on Route B, located three miles east of Poplar Bluff. The incident prompted a response from local emergency services.
According to the investigation conducted by TPR J.D. Conover, the accident involved a 2019 Chevrolet Trax driven by 77-year-old Gloria Wilson from Poplar Bluff. Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred when the bicyclist, 56-year-old Ricky McMurtry, traveled into the path of the Chevrolet Trax. The vehicle sustained moderate damage but was able to be driven from the scene.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assist those involved in the crash. Ricky McMurtry was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by Butler County EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
