The crash occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. in rural Pope County, prompting an immediate response from emergency personnel.
According to authorities, a 2021 Nissan traveling westbound on I-40 hydroplaned due to wet road conditions, veering off the roadway and striking a ditch before rolling over onto its roof. The vehicle was occupied by 21-year-old Alisa Long of Russellville, who was driving at the time of the crash. Sadly, Long was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transported to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The weather at the time of the accident was rainy, contributing to wet and hazardous road conditions. Law enforcement officials were on-site to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Alisa Long, and we wish Nathan Tackett a swift and full recovery.
Weather-Related Accidents in Arkansas
Weather conditions, particularly rain, are a significant factor in many traffic accidents across Arkansas. Wet roads increase the risk of hydroplaning, where a vehicle’s tires lose contact with the road surface, leading to loss of control. In 2023, Arkansas reported numerous weather-related accidents, many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities.
Interstate 40, a major east-west route through Arkansas, frequently experiences heavy traffic, and wet conditions can make it particularly hazardous. Drivers are advised to exercise caution during inclement weather, reduce speed, and maintain a safe following distance to prevent accidents like the one in Pope County.
Victims of weather-related accidents often face not only physical injuries but also emotional trauma and financial burdens from medical expenses, lost wages, and vehicle repairs. It is crucial for those involved to seek prompt medical attention and understand their legal rights, especially if negligence played a role in the accident.
