Pompano Beach, FL (January 14, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of a woman early Monday morning on I-95 northbound in Pompano Beach. The incident occurred just north of Oakland Park Blvd in Broward County, involving multiple vehicles and resulting in several injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the crash initially involved four vehicles stopped in the inside and center lanes around 6 a.m. A 42-year-old driver of a Ford pickup truck was unable to slow down in time to avoid the stopped vehicles. He lost control, causing his truck to flip and collide with two stationary cars and a woman who had exited her vehicle.
The 53-year-old woman from Fort Lauderdale sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released. Two additional drivers involved in the crash were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at local hospitals.
The accident caused all northbound lanes of I-95 to be closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and conduct their investigation. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision.
