Polk, MO (February 7, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision north of Bolivar resulted in injuries to two juveniles on Friday afternoon. The crash occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. on MO-13 at Route B, two miles north of Bolivar in Polk County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper D.J. Jackson, a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by a 31-year-old woman from Flemington, MO, was attempting to cross MO-13 from Route BB to Route B when it was struck on the passenger side by a 2008 Dodge 3500 traveling northbound. The Dodge was driven by a 46-year-old man from Willard, MO.

Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by A and J Towing. The drivers, who were both wearing seat belts, were not reported to have sustained serious injuries.

However, two juvenile passengers in the Ford F-150, a 6-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, sustained injuries. Both children were properly restrained at the time of the crash and were transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, for treatment.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured children and their family, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.

Rural Highway Collisions in Missouri

Collisions at rural highway intersections, such as MO-13 and Route B near Bolivar, are common in Missouri and can result in serious injuries or fatalities. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, rural roads account for a significant portion of the state’s traffic accidents due to factors like high-speed limits, limited visibility, and the complexity of navigating intersections.

In this case, the crash occurred as one vehicle attempted to cross a busy highway, a common scenario that often leads to T-bone collisions, which can cause severe injuries, especially to passengers on the side of impact.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution when crossing highways, ensuring clear visibility in both directions and yielding to oncoming traffic. Additionally, wearing seat belts and properly securing child passengers can significantly reduce the risk of serious injuries in the event of a crash.

Victims of highway collisions may face both physical and emotional challenges, as well as financial burdens due to medical expenses and vehicle repairs. Consulting with legal professionals can help individuals understand their rights and options for compensation following an accident.
