Polk County, IA (November 28, 2024) – A tragic accident on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a woman following a collision between an SUV and a semi-truck at the intersection of NE Hubbell Ave and NE 112th St. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 2:15 PM, when the semi-truck, hauling a trailer full of pigs, overturned as a result of the collision.
The driver of the SUV, an adult woman, was initially rushed to the hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have not released her identity at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the semi was traveling north on NE Hubbell Ave, while the SUV was headed east on NE 112th St when the collision occurred. The northbound lanes of NE Hubbell Ave were temporarily closed near NE Santiago Dr for investigation but have since been reopened.
