Pittsylvania County, VA (January 24, 2025) – Two individuals tragically lost their lives in an accident on Thursday afternoon in the 5100 block of Dry Fork Rd. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. and appeared to involve electrocution.
Early reports indicate that a power line came into contact with farming equipment, causing a fire at the scene. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered the two individuals deceased. Several local fire departments, including Dry Fork Fire, Mt. Hermon Fire, Tunstall Fire, and Chatham Fire, responded alongside Pittsylvania County Public Safety. Danville Utilities was requested to shut down the power grid to facilitate rescue and recovery efforts.
The victims’ identities have not yet been released as officials work to notify their families. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic accident.
