Piqua, OH (February 16, 2025) – An ambulance transporting a patient from an earlier crash on I-75 in Shelby County was involved in a collision with a semi-truck near Piqua early Saturday morning.
According to a release from the City of Sidney, the crash occurred at approximately 5:57 a.m. on February 15. The Sidney Fire and Emergency Services medic unit was en route with a patient from a previous crash on I-75 near Sidney when a semi-truck struck it. The impact caused “moderate” damage to the ambulance.
Three Sidney firefighters were inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. One firefighter sustained injuries and was transported by a Piqua medic to Upper Valley Medical Center. The other two returned to Sidney for evaluation at Wilson Health, while the third firefighter was unharmed.
The patient from the initial crash was successfully transferred to the Miami Valley Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). No further updates have been provided on the condition of those involved.
